Carolyn Cole

Practice Focus: Carolyn K. Cole provides a broad range of sophisticated legal services to individual and business clients in traditional and emerging areas of law. Attorney Cole is an experienced trial attorney, specializing in complex commercial litigation, employment litigation, judgment enforcement, high-value divorce, contract disputes, defamation law, and foreclosure, unfair competition, and consumer protection. Many of the clients she represents are in the telecommunication, technology, real estate, manufacturing, financial, retail, and construction industries. Attorney Cole is licensed to practice in any trial court in New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York, both at the state and federal level.  She also practices before the Public Utility Commissions in New Hampshire and Vermont, the Board of Tax and Land Appeals, the New Hampshire Bureau of Securities Regulation, and municipal zoning boards. Attorney Cole works closely with clients, guiding them through the litigation process, and just as frequently, counseling them on how to avoid litigation.

Carolyn attended Middlebury College and then egan her career as a United States Peace Corps volunteer, serving as a midwife in the Central African Republic. She earned her Master’s degree from Oxford University in Elizabethan and Jacobean English and then attended the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She practiced in New York City for several years, focusing on Civil and Human Rights violations until moving to New Hampshire in 1999 where she practiced general civil litigation. In 2007 she served as in-house general counsel for a large telecommunication company until forming Cole Associates Civil Law, PLLC Civil Law, PLLC in 2013.


Howard Myers

Of Counsel


Howard Myers was born and raised on a large dairy farm in Western Massachusetts. He attended Deerfield Academy, and went on to Dartmouth College where he graduated Cum Laude. Following Dartmouth, Mr. Myers received his law degree from Columbia University in New York City.

After completing law school, Mr. Myers spent 4 years in the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington DC. Wishing to move back to the New England area he was appointed Assistant Attorney General for the State of New Hampshire in 1972 and became head of the Consumer Protection Division.

Mr. Myers has been in private practice since 1974. For a number of years, he specialized in product liability litigation representing many multinational corporations, such as General Motors, Saab, Volkswagen, and Caterpillar. Since 1990, while he still engages in civil litigation, the focus of his practice has shifted to business startups, commercial transactions, and commercial and residential real estate transactions.

Mr. Myers is admitted to the bars of Washington DC, Vermont, and New Hampshire. He currently practices in both Vermont and New Hampshire from his offices in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Karen Liot Hill

Senior Law Clerk

Karen Liot Hill brings a strong project management background to Cole Associates Civil Law, PLLC. After graduating from Dartmouth College, Karen stayed in the area to work at the Rockefeller Center for Public Policy as an event and logistics coordinator and helped to develop and implement a leadership and management training program for college students. As a management consultant, Karen has worked on a variety of projects from small business development to grant applications to political campaigns to construction management. She has worked for real estate, entertainment, and general practice lawyers, as well as accounting and public relations firms.

Karen is serving her seventh term on the Lebanon City Council, where she served as Mayor of the city in 2008-09. As a City Councilor, Karen’s focus has been primarily on issues of sustainability — fiscal and environmental — and economic vitality. She has served on numerous boards at the state and local level, including the New Hampshire Municipal Association, the Local Government Center Property Liability Trust, and Vital Communities. In 2016, Karen was elected Grafton County Treasurer.

Karen was named one of New Hampshire's top "40 Under 40" by the Union Leader newspaper in 2010. She is a mother of two daughters, fluent in French, and a seasoned musician (piano and vocals). Karen is a member of Dartmouth's Class of 2000, graduating with Honors in Government.
